RCPD Makes Arrest in Saturday's Shooting

MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Riley County Police Department has arrested a suspect following a shooting that occurred last Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of Marlatt Avenue.

Jacques Toliver, 38, of Manhattan, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at approximately 5:01 p.m., after turning himself into RCPD without incident. Toliver has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal discharge of a firearm and felony criminal damage to property. He was issued a total bond of $1,000,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this release.

At approximately 1:53 p.m., on Oct. 11, officers responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, RCPD located a 35-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka for treatment of serious injuries.

This remains an active investigation.
