Additional Arrests Made in Homicide Investigation

MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Riley County Police Department has made three additional arrests in connection with the homicide that occurred early Saturday morning, Dec. 6, in the 800 block of Colorado Street.

Danielle Sanchez, 47, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, in the 1000 block of Pottawatomie Court and charged with interference with a law enforcement officer; conceal/alter/destroy evidence in a felony case and attempted obstruction of apprehension of prosecution; committed or charged with a felony. Sanchez was issued a total bond of $10,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Joleann Killham, 24, and Eli Smith, 22, both of Manhattan, were arrested on Dec. 10 and charged with interference with a law enforcement officer; conceal/alter/destroy evidence in a felony case and obstructing apprehension of prosecution; committed or charged with a felony. Killham and Smith were both issued total bonds of $10,000 each. Killham is no longer in the Riley County Jail. Smith remains confined at the time of this release.

These arrests are the results of continued investigative efforts following the apprehension of Erick Sanchez-Chavez, 29, of Manhattan, who was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and criminal threat in the death of 36-year-old Mark Rickenbaker. Sanchez-Chavez was issued a total bond of $1,000,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this release.

This remains an active investigation.
