Two Men Arrested in an Aggravated Robbery Case

Two Manhattan men were arrested yesterday afternoon, January 30, 2024, for aggravated robbery, among other charges, after a robbery that happened in the early morning hours.

Early yesterday morning, January 30, 2024, the Riley County Police Department Communication Center received several 911 calls reporting a robbery. A 29-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported two male subjects brandished a weapon and stole a backpack from him containing various items. Within the day, detectives were able to identify the subjects, execute a search warrant, and arrest two subjects.

Brandon Welty and Joseph Bauer, both of Manhattan, were arrested in the 400 block of Leavenworth Street in Manhattan at approximately 5:16 PM. Welty was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for aggravated robbery and probation violation. Bauer was arrested for aggravated robbery, failure to appear, and probation violation.

Welty was issued total bond of $90,000 and Bauer was issued a total bond of $82,000. Both suspects remain confined in the Riley County Jail.
