Manhattan, Kan. -
Officers responded to the report of an injury accident at the intersection of Seth Child Road and Marlatt Avenue in Manhattan on March 22, 2024, at approximately 4:24 PM. When officers arrived on the scene they found a 1996 GMC Sierra driven by Spencer Berry, 22 of Manhattan, was in the ditch having been struck by a 2003 Ford Ecoline E250 driven by Mark Pixley, 63 of Manhattan. It was determined Berry had pulled out onto Seth Child Road in front of Pixley, who did not have enough time to stop. Kansas Highway Partol did arrive on the scene and take over the investigation. Both Berry and Pixley were transported to the hospital for their injuries. The extent of the injuries to either driver are unknown at this time as are whether any citations were issued.
Ezekiel Cruz, 19, of Manhattan, was arrested at the intersection of Skyway Drive and Scenic Drive on March 22, 2024, at approximately 9:29 PM. Cruz was arrested for attempted fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, maximum speed limits, driving without headlights when needed, and no proof of liability insurance. Cruz was issued a total bond of $6,000 and was confined at the time of this report.
Officers responded to the report of an injury accident at the intersection of Welsh Road and Lasita Road in Leonardville on March 24, 2024, at approximately 1:55 AM When officers arrived on the scene they found a 2014 Chevy Silverado on its top in the ditch. Inside, the driver, Kenda Jantz, 19, of Abilene was trapped. Jantz was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital for her non-life-threatening injuries.
Etick Smith, 58, of Ogden, was arrested on March 23, 2024, at approximately 3:24 PM on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. His original charges were for resisting arrest/obstruction. Smith was issued a total bond of $20,000 and was not confined at the time of this report. Due to a clerical error, this arrest did not make it onto the Daily Arrest Report.
