Officers filed a report for burglary in the 1800 block of Anderson Ave. in Manhattan on August 17, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m. A 21-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his Stag Arms AR15 was stolen from his home while it was unoccupied. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,000. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 500 block of Sunset Ave. in Manhattan on August 17, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m. A 20-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported unknown males threw a spray paint can at his truck parked in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity parking lot causing damage to the hood and windshield. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $850. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. John Swartz, 52, of Manhattan was arrested on August 17, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m. on a Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant and possession of marijuana. Swartz was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for burglary in the 1200 block of Moro St. in Manhattan on August 18, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m. A 19-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported his Glock 17 9mm handgun was stolen from his vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $600. The gun was later recovered from Tubby's Sports Bar.
