Identity Verification by Law Enforcement Officers

Claim Verification

After the state of Kansas began seeing an increase in reports of unemployment claim fraud due to identity theft, the Riley County Police Department began assisting the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) in verifying identity claims so they can move forward through the system. KDOL increased its security measures requiring some claimants to provide additional identity verification in order to receive unemployment insurance benefits.

On April 25, 2021, Governor Laura Kelly signed House Bill 2196 which allows claimants to verify their identity at Kansas Law Enforcement Agencies before a police officer. This is an optional opportunity for law enforcement agencies and RCPD opted to assist in this matter.

You must bring in the identity verification form to RCPD for verification:

Monday through Friday
8 am to 5 pm
1001 South Seth Child Road
Phone: 785-537-2112

You must be the victim of unemployment identity theft and currently seeking unemployment benefits to use this resource. The form will be used by KDOL to establish the claimant's identity and, if the claimant is found eligible for unemployment insurance benefits, process any outstanding claims. For questions, please email KDOL with the subject line "LEO Question".
