MANHATTAN, KAN. –
The Riley County Police Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a DUI checkpoint in the early morning hours of September 1st 2018. The checkpoint was conducted in the 300 block of Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan, Kansas. The purpose of the checkpoint was to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway.
Three Hundred and Fifty (350) vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint between the hours of 0005 and 0224.
Twenty Eight (28) drivers were evaluated for impaired driving and Seven (7) were arrested for Driving Under the Influence. One (1) subject was arrested for DUI, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. One (1) subject was arrested for DUI and Unlawful Possession of Stimulants. One (1) subject was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Three (3) subjects were issued Notice To Appear citations for Possession of Marijuana. Two (2) subjects were issued Notice To Appear citations for Minor In Consumption of Alcohol.
