MANHATTAN, KAN. – On October 15, 2017 at approximately 1:36 a.m., the Riley County Police Department received a 911 call from a citizen reporting shots being fired near 519 North Manhattan Avenue in Manhattan.

When officers arrived on scene, they found one person suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Witnesses describe the suspect as a black male wearing dark clothing. At this time the incident is being investigated as an attempted murder. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.

The Riley County Police Department is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777 or the Riley County Police Department at 785-537-2112. Anyone with information may also contact the department through social media by using Facebook or Twitter. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
