August 25, 2014

On Friday August 22, 2014, the Riley County Police Department conducted a MIP/MIC Saturation Patrol.  Officers involved in the Saturation Patrol were enforcing alcohol laws related to underage drinking and taking the appropriate enforcement action.

The purpose of this program is to place additional officers in and around the Manhattan area with the goal of identifying underage alcohol consumption.  This patrol is on of several, in a series of patrols which will be conducted this year.  The Manhattan Area Risk Prevention Coalition (MARPC) with the support of the Strategic Prevention Framework Partnership for Success II Grant is providing funding for these Saturation Patrols.

As a result of the patrol 15 citations for MIP, 9 open container citations, and 2 citations for hosting were issued.  Officers made approximately 100 public contacts throughout the duration of the patrol.
