March 25, 2014
Police and Fire Officials for the Manhattan and Riley County area will be teaming up on March 28, 2014 from 6:00 PM to Midnight as they participate in a social media event dubbed “#FIRECOP.”
The Riley County Police Department will be trading their own #TwitterCop for the tweeting Fire Fighter of the Manhattan Fire Department during this 6 hour tweet along event. Both participants will be tweeting about their experience using the hashtag “#FIRECOP.” The two will also be interacting with the public and each other during this emergency services job swap.
The event, which has been teased on YouTube for the past several weeks, will give the public a different look at two of the emergency services in the area. The Manhattan Fire Department will host the Police Tweet Along on their account and the Riley County Police Department will host the MFD Tweet Along.
These Tweet Alongs, like others RCPD has conducted in the past, will offer a play by play of the shifts activities. It will include most everything that occurs, not unlike the time that #TwitterCop burned a hole in his pants with a road flare.
To follow or participate socially in the event this Friday night, search for the corresponding hashtag or follow RCPD (@RileyCountyPD) and MFD (@ManhattanFD) on Twitter. A portion of the event will also be covered on the respective agency’s Facebook page.
“It’s a great opportunity to not only show our support of one another [RCPD and MFD], but also an opportunity to really see the work that is done and be able to appreciate the guys and girls both agencies work with on a daily basis.” –Police Captain, Kurt Moldrup.
The event kicks off March 28th at 6:00 PM, so make sure to login to Twitter and be social with @RileyCountyPD and @ManhattanFD.
