The Riley County Police Department is proud to announce the recipient of the first annual RCPD Scholarship Award. Kristina Gee, the daughter of Officer Darla King, was awarded this $500.00 scholarship in August of this year after a selection process conducted throughout the summer. She is currently attending Fort Hays State University, located in Hays Kansas.
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be the dependent son or daughter of an active, full-time RCPD employee and accepted or currently enrolled as a full-time student at the undergraduate or graduate level. This scholarship is made possible by the donations of RCPD employees, the Riley County Police Department Employee Fund, as well as donations from the general public. RCPD is proud to have the ability to assist scholarship recipients with a portion of what it may cost them to attend an institution of higher learning.
"We are happy to have the opportunity to help our employees and I want to wish Kristina the best of luck at school." -Director Bradley Schoen.
The Riley County Police Department Scholarship Fund is a component fund of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and was established by RCPD to recognize outstanding students who are children of RCPD employees. Members of the public who would like to donate to the RCPD Scholarship Fund may do so by submitting donations in check form to the "RCPD Scholarship Fund." Donations may be sent to the fund care of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, 555 Poyntz Avenue, Suite 269, PO Box 1127, Manhattan, KS 66505-1127.
