In September 2013, the International Association of Chiefs of Police Social Media Center ( chose the Riley County Police Department as a featured agency for their use of social media ( This comes months after RCPD and their #TwitterCop were recognized by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (a program of the National Institute of Justice) for law enforcement tweeting and the use of social media for better community relations.

IACP is an organization that assists law enforcement in furthering education as well as provides resources for police agencies. Riley County Police Department is proud to be recognized by this organization and wishes to continue its well-received use of social media to help inform and connect with the community members of Manhattan and Riley County, as well as international users (be they law enforcement or civilian).
