MANHATTAN, KAN. - On Sunday April 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM until approximately 4:00 PM, Riley County Police Department, would like to extend an invitation to the community to join their employees and Bike Unit in a Community Bike Ride. Riders of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend, as no rider attending will be left behind and various routes will be offered to help ensure a casual and
enjoyable afternoon (routes are TBA, but will only accommodate trail biking at this time. Trail appropriate bikes should be ridden by participants). Participants should meet in front of the Riley County Police Department no later than 12:45 PM to check in and complete a short liability waiver (riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the time of check in. Riders under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the ride).
The RCPD Patrol Bike Unit will be on hand for general bike safety tips and proper helmet fitting as well as assistance with minor bike maintenance issues. They will also be available for questions regarding their day to day activities while patrolling on a bike as well as local and state bike law inquiries.
All riders join the department at their own risk and should bring appropriate equipment and attire, to include plenty of water, a snack, and at least one extra bike tire inner tube. All participants are required to wear a properly fitting helmet and closed toe athletic shoes.
