MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Riley County Police Department had its third of a series of seven DUI Saturation Patrols on the evening of August 15, 2015 into the early morning hours of August 16, 2015.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – On Saturday August 15, 2015, the Riley County Police Department will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol.  Officers involved in the Saturation Patrol will be looking for signs of impaired driving and other traffic violations.  Motorists who show signs of alcohol and/or drug consumption will be evaluated and appropriate enforcement action will be taken.

The purpose of this program is to place additional officers in and around the Manhattan area with the goal of detecting and deterring impaired driving.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – On July 21, 2015 at approximately 9:00 AM officers with the Riley County Police Department filed a report for and became interested in checking the welfare of a 54-year-old man from Manhattan who had left his home without telling family and friends where he was going.

NextCoffee Event February 2015

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Beginning in July 2015 the Riley County Police Department’s counterpart, NextCoffee, will go completely on- demand in an effort to make the program even more available to area neighborhoods. Prior to this change NextCoffee was held on the last Monday of each month.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Emergency personnel responded to the 11000 block of Rimrock Road in Manhattan on July 7, 2015 at approximately 1:40 AM for a report of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. When responding officers arrived they found that Donald Pickering, 65, of Manhattan was deceased. Pickering contacted the Riley County Police Department Communications Center Dispatch prior to his death, however, did not express a desire to harm himself at that time.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – In the evening hours of June 29, 2015 the Riley County Police Department responded to a welfare check and found a deceased adult male near the intersection of Casement and Barnes Road in Manhattan. This adult male sustained what RCPD believes to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Riley County Police Department on Wednesday identified the deceased man as 68-year-old Walter Cash of Manhattan
