On Friday August 16, 2013, the Riley County Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the Manhattan area. The checkpoint is scheduled to run into the early hours of Saturday August 17, 2013. The purpose of the checkpoint is to detect and deter impaired drivers. Those motorists suspected of impairment will be given on-site sobriety field tests. Confirmed impaired drivers will be arrested. Efforts will be made to not severely interrupt traffic flow, but many drivers will be stopped briefly as part of this checkpoint.

Battle of the Badges in an annual competition between Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County EMS, and Riley County Police Department. The goal is get get participants to donate blood in the name of a specific emergency service agency.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – As a result of an ongoing investigation into multiple vehicle burglaries in the Manhattan area, RCPD has announced the successful arrests of two subjects believed to be responsible for victimizing over thirty community members since at least last month. On Friday, May 24, 2013, at approximately 03:15:00 AM officers responded to the area of the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Road for a report of vehicle burglary.
