We are in unprecedented times — and the reality is that no one knows what is going to happen with COVID-19. My message is to re-assure members of our community that we continue serving you.

We remain committed to our duty to serve the people of Riley County by providing emergency police, corrections, and 911 dispatching services--without interruption. It is important for you to know that you can count on Public Safety agencies like ours remain stable in this time of uncertainty.

To protect our employees--and you, we have implemented enhanced safety measures at our department which we shared with you earlier this week. These steps are necessary to protect our most critical resource — people — so they are available to those who need them, including their own families.

The hope is that with proper prevention practices put into place, we can slow the spread of the virus. We must listen to local, state, and national health experts to take reasonable precautions to ensure you and others stay safe and in good health.

We hope you believe that The Riley County Police Department is a rock-solid pillar of our community, unwavering and ready to assist when the people of Riley County need our help.

We will continue to work closely with other local emergency services partners to do what we can to responsibly respond to the recommended public health precautions.

Prevention — watching out for each other, not panicking is how we will all get through this — together — as a community.

Thank you.
