Wednesday, January 29, 2014 - 10:00am to 1:00pm

6th and Poyntz Ave. Manhattan, Kansas

"Everybody Counts" is a Free event that will happen on Jan 29th 2014 - at the Harris Activity Center. Meals, Social Services, and much more! The Riley County Police Department will be in attendance from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will have the ability to answer questions about child passenger seats and local laws!

An informational report was brought forward to the USD 383 Board of Education in September. The report indicated that over 250 students are self-reporting to be experiencing homelessness in our schools. This number is thought to be only about ½ of children actually struggling with housing stability in our community.

In response to this heartbreaking information our community leaders have begun to step up and ask how they can help. Many of the local church congregations have begun rallying around this cause.

We have brought together school administrators, religious leaders, social service leaders, the Kansas Homeless Coalition and formed a plan to begin to address the larger issues contributing to the increase in homelessness.
