ERU Bomb Team

RCPD ERU Bomb Team

The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Bomb Team is comprised of several highly and regularly trained members and responds to potentially dangerous situations in our jurisdiction. This team is made up of members from various aspects of the department. Members are not a full time Bomb Unit and are activated on an on call basis. The Bomb Team works closely with officers to address and make safe certain or potential crime scenes that may contain material believed to be explosive.

This team is made up of members from various aspects of the department such as Investigations and Patrol. Members are not a full time unit and are activated on an on call basis.

ERU Clandestine Lab Team

ERU Clandestine Lab Team

The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Clandestine Lab Team is comprised of many highly and regularly trained members and responds to potentially dangerous situations in our jurisdiction. This team is made up of members from various aspects of the department such as Investigations and Patrol. Members are not a full time Clandestine Lab Unit and are activated on an on call basis.

Detective

Detectives at Riley County Police Department are charged with duties ranging from interviewing witnesses and suspects, conducting background investigations, and managing caseload. The Detectives often participate in special investigations and have the opportunity to become part of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Detectives facilitate the day to day operations of the Riley County Repeat Offender Program (ROP) and attended specialized training when appropriate.

Bike Officer

RCPD Patrol Bike Team

Bicycle patrols police high-density areas utilizing specialized equipment and training. The Patrol Bike Unit officers form problem-solving partnerships with the community, actively patrol areas not accessible to vehicles, and focus on those crime and quality of life problems that impact the community as a whole.

Public Information Officer (PIO)

The Public Information Officer is the liaison between the Department and interested community groups and media outlets. This officer incorporates social media along with the department website to send information to the public regarding current investigations, daily activity, and the like. The PIO also assists in the development of new programs in those areas where the relationship between a group, or the public as a whole; and the Department may be improved.

School Resource Officer

The position of School Resource Officers is established to provide a link between the Department and the schools within Riley County, and to increase positive, proactive involvement with the students of those schools. SRO's interact directly with the students and work closely with the school system to solve problems. The SRO serves three primary functions: police officer; law-related instructor; and advisor.

K-9 Unit

RCPD K9 Unit

The Canine Teams are utilized to aid and assist all divisions of the Riley County Police Department. The Department utilizes trained and certified canine teams in an effort to detect and deter the introduction and use of illegal drugs within the Department's jurisdiction and to locate certain individuals. The Canine Teams are assigned to, and supervised by the Patrol Division and are generally available on a 24-hour, on-call basis.

The Law Board by virtue of its authority has vested in the Department the responsibility to provide security for the courts of the Riley County District Court.

This team is made up of members from various aspects of the department such as Investigations and Patrol. Members are not a full time tactical unit and are activated on an on call basis.
