Riley County Police Department Director Brad Schoen has served the community of Riley County since January 1983. He has served as Director of the department since November 2007. His time with RCPD has included service as Commander of the Patrol and Support Divisions,Training Officer, Internal Affairs, Accreditation Manger, among others. He is also a graduate of the FBI's 185th National Academy.  Prior to working at RCPD, he served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman for 3 years. He was raised in a small town in North Central Kansas and earned a degree in Sociology (Cum Laude) from K-State. He and his wife Susan have two children.
Since becoming Director of RCPD, the Department has had success in reducing crime via an Intelligence Led Policing model using data driven approaches to crime reduction.  These efforts led the IACP to award the Department its 2013 Excellence in Law Enforcement Research Bronze award.  He aspires to make the Department accountable to the local community by holding the department to a standard of excellence as typified by the Department's eight core values.
